Overview

Sgrin is an offline-first native macOS application built by Luvian Labs. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is handled. The short version: your recordings never leave your Mac.

Data we collect

The Sgrin app is designed to work without an account and without cloud storage. Your screen recordings, audio captures, cursor positions, and project files are processed and stored entirely on your local Mac.

The app sends minimal, fully anonymized telemetry for two purposes only: error monitoring (crash reports) and update checks. This telemetry contains no personal data, no identifiable metadata, and no content from your recordings. You can disable it entirely in the app settings.

Our website (sgrin.app) is separate from the app. It uses PostHog analytics (US Cloud) to measure aggregate, anonymized traffic and referral sources. This is web analytics only; it never touches your recordings or app data, and we honor the Do Not Track setting in your browser.

If you contact our support team by email, we use your address only to reply to your inquiry. We never share or sell your email address to any third party.

If you purchase a license, payment processing is handled by a third-party payment provider. We do not store or process your payment card details.

How we use data

We use the data described above for: error monitoring and crash reporting; checking for app updates; understanding aggregate website traffic; and responding to support requests. We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or any other purpose.

Data storage and security

All app data is stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store your recordings, and we cannot access them. Because your data never leaves your Mac, there is no cloud account to compromise and no server-side breach surface.

Third-party services

The only third-party services involved are PostHog (US Cloud) for website analytics and a payment provider for license purchases. Each receives only the minimum data required for its function.

Your rights

You can disable telemetry at any time in the app settings. You can opt out of website analytics via the Do Not Track setting in your browser, which we honor. You can request access to or deletion of any personal data we hold (for example, your support email) by writing to hello@sgrin.app.

Children's privacy

Sgrin is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available at sgrin.app/legal/privacy, with the date of the last update shown at the top of this page.
